About the role

Our Kenyan team are looking to recruit an eye health professional with first class project management knowledge within international development to join their team in Nairobi. The Programme Officer reporting to the Senior Programme Manager and Programme Manager will support a refractive error intervention project and own the planning, organising and coordination of all activities across selected counties.

Knowledge skills and experience

If you have previous experience supporting an eye health project from implementation through to close out; honed monitoring evaluation and learning knowledge; are budget and forecasting savvy and can coordinate activities ensuring refractive error intervention is actively used for quality improvement and timely decision making we would like to hear from you. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within in an INGO or NGO setting.

Essential

  • A proven track record in supporting the implementation of eye health projects working closely with project partners and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to ensure safe programmes by being alert ready to safe-guarding risks in project communities
  • An understanding how to implement high quality and ethical MEL approaches across the Boresha Macho Refractive Error project
  • An advocate for programmatic disability and social inclusion
  • Knowledgeable on current issues and best practice regarding disability, UNCRPD, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
  • Strong knowledge of data collection tools, analysis and dissemination of performance data to support learning and adaptation
  • Recognised qualification or degree in social sciences, education, development studies, public health
  • Proven work experience in a similar programme role in either international development or an NGO
  • First class communication and planning skills
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Current and ongoing right to work in Kenya
  • Able and available for extensive travel nationally (40% of working time)
